About This Job

The Department of Zoology at Government College University (GCU) Lahore has announced one Ph.D. Research Fellowship under a Higher Education Commission (HEC) funded NRPU project (Project No. 20-196346-112) titled "Multi-omics and Artificial Intelligence-Based Multidimensional Remediation for Industrial Wastewater," led by Dr. Muhammad Tariq Zahid, Principal Investigator and Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology. The fellowship is intended to support a currently enrolled GCU Lahore Ph.D. student to conduct research within this funded project, with applicants specialising in Environmental Remediation or Toxicology specifically encouraged to apply, reflecting the project's focus on industrial wastewater treatment using multi-omics and AI-based approaches.

Eligibility is restricted to students who are currently enrolled in a Ph.D. programme in Zoology, or a closely relevant field, at GCU Lahore; the fellowship is not open to external candidates or students of other institutions. The fellowship carries a fixed stipend of Rs. 80,000 per month and is offered initially for a period of six months, extendable up to a maximum of two years, subject to satisfactory research progress and continued availability and release of funds from HEC. As this is a research fellowship rather than a regular faculty or staff appointment, no separate age, gender, or domicile restriction is stated beyond the GCU-enrolment requirement, and the opportunity is treated as open to all eligible enrolled students.

Eligible and interested students should obtain and complete the prescribed application form and submit it together with an updated CV, a copy of their CNIC, proof of current student/enrolment status, and attested academic transcripts directly to the Office of the Chairperson, Department of Zoology, GCU Lahore. All applications must reach the department on or before the closing date of September 8, 2026. Students with questions about the fellowship or the underlying research project can contact Dr. Muhammad Tariq Zahid, Principal Investigator, in the Department of Zoology, GCU Lahore.
