About This Job

Pakistan Army has opened its 2026 Direct Short Service Commission intake for the Aeronautical branch, offering qualified engineers a route into a commissioned technical role without repeating undergraduate study. Unlike the multi-year Pakistan Military Academy Long Course meant for fresh graduates, this Short Service Commission is built for candidates who already hold a relevant engineering degree — a route worth considering for young engineers who want a disciplined, mission-driven career alongside their technical specialization in aerospace, avionics, electrical or mechanical fields.

Eligible applicants need at least a 16-year (4-year) BS/BE or equivalent Master's-level degree in Aerospace Engineering, Avionics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an HEC- or Pakistan Engineering Council-recognized institute in Pakistan or abroad, with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 out of 4.0 (or 62.5% under the annual marking system) and no more than one C grade across their FSc/Matric-level academic record — an MS/MCS degree alone does not qualify, though holders of one with 2-3 years of relevant work experience are given preference. The commission is open to married or unmarried male citizens of Pakistan (plus AJK/GB domicile holders) up to 28 years of age as of 1 November 2026, standing at least 5 feet 4 inches tall and meeting the required Body Mass Index; candidates with a history of repeated ISSB rejections, prior dismissal from government or Armed Forces service, or a serious criminal conviction are not eligible.

Online registration runs from 22 June to 19 July 2026 at joinpakarmy.gov.pk, with preliminary Academics/Intelligence MCQ tests, a medical check, and physical standards — an 8-minute 1km run, 10 qualifying push-ups and 10 qualifying sit-ups — conducted at Army Selection and Recruitment Centres between 16 and 24 July 2026. Shortlisted candidates proceed to an Inter Services Selection Board evaluation and, if recommended, a further interview with the GHQ Selection Board via the Pakistan Army Telepresence System, with no travel allowance admissible at any stage. Those finally selected complete six months of military training at the Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul and sign a bond to serve the Army for a minimum of seven years. Engineering graduates who meet the criteria should complete their registration before the 19 July 2026 deadline.
