The Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, through the Projects Wing of the Planning Commission of Pakistan, is recruiting one Accountant at a grade equivalent to PPS-6. The position belongs to the development project "Strengthening of M/o PD&SI in M&E of PSDP", which builds the Ministry's capacity to monitor and evaluate schemes financed under the Public Sector Development Programme. The Ministry acts as the federal government's main think tank on planning, supplying technical and professional advice for the design and rollout of socio-economic plans and policies, and this project post handles the money side of that work. Hiring is purely on contract and merit, with an initial term of two years that may be extended on satisfactory performance until the project is completed. Salary and benefits are set according to the Finance Division's standard pay package. For accounts professionals who already know government financial procedures, the post offers a chance to work directly with a federal ministry's project office in Islamabad.

To qualify, candidates should hold one of the following: an MBA in Finance, an M.Com, CA Intermediate, or the ACCA Foundation level. Computer literacy is not compulsory, but the ministry says it will give preference to candidates who have it. On the experience side, applicants need at least one year of practical work maintaining cash and accounts books and reconciling accounts with the Accountant General Pakistan Revenues (AGPR), which makes the post best suited to people who have previously handled public-sector project accounts. The maximum age is 45 years. The advertisement places no restriction on gender or domicile, so eligible candidates from anywhere in Pakistan can apply. Once appointed, the Accountant will prepare NIS, keep the project's cash books, process cash receipts, payments and bills, carry out reconciliation of accounts with AGPR, and take on any other duties assigned by the Project Director.
