The Aga Khan University (AKU) has advertised a Post Doc Fellow position in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at its Karachi campus. The Fellow will operate within defined research practices to deliver specific project objectives, contribute to academic administration and education support, coordinate research activities including sample collection, laboratory bench work and data management, assist senior faculty with research planning, independently conduct experiments and optimize protocols, run next-generation sequencing (NGS) assays through the full workflow, correlate and interpret compiled data, develop new methods to address scientific problems, conduct literature surveys, contribute to research-strategy development, prepare qualitative and quantitative analyses using bioinformatics tools, write up results and manuscripts, supervise research staff and PhD students, and assist in raising equipment and reagent purchase requisitions. Candidates must hold a PhD in Molecular Biology with 2-3 years of related work experience, hands-on wet-lab experience with sequencing-based technologies (Sanger and next-generation sequencing), and familiarity with whole genome, exome and RNA sequencing.
