The Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi has invited applications for the position of Assistant Head Nurse in the Department of Medicine. The Assistant Head Nurse acts as the in-charge nurse in the absence of the Head Nurse and is responsible for patient care assignment, care management, operational and human resource coordination, and collaboration with support services for the assigned unit during shift duties. The role also involves assisting the Head Nurse in the day-to-day management of the unit and in the orientation and development of new nursing staff. This is a regular position based at the tertiary care hospital in Karachi, part of AKU's network of hospitals and medical centres across Pakistan.

Key responsibilities include assisting the Head Nurse in managing the inpatient area, teaching and mentoring new staff, ensuring quality patient care, meeting frequently with consultants on patient care matters, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, assessing patient care and staffing needs, and demonstrating initiative in Quality Improvement in Nursing Practice (QINP). Candidates must hold a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BScN) from an accredited school, a valid license from the Pakistan Nursing Council, and certifications in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Safe Medication Administration, Aseptic Techniques, I/V Cannulation, and the Tool Training and Facilitation Course, along with a minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, excellent communication and supervisory skills, and willingness to work shift duties.
