KPITB is hiring an individual consultant as a Data Engineer on scale MBS IV to build and run the data pipelines that feed the province's growing data-science and reporting needs, reporting to the Data Science Architect from a Peshawar duty station. The Data Engineer will design, build and maintain production ETL and ELT pipelines that move information reliably between departmental source systems and KPITB's analytics environment, working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL or SQL Server, applying data-warehousing concepts, and using workflow-orchestration tools to keep scheduled jobs running cleanly. Strong SQL and Python skills are used daily in this role to transform, validate and load data, and the Engineer is expected to maintain proper version control over pipeline code so that changes remain traceable and reversible as KPITB's data platforms mature. Ensuring data integrity throughout each pipeline stage, and building in backup and recovery safeguards for critical datasets, is treated as a core part of the role rather than an afterthought, especially where pipelines feed dashboards that departmental officers check daily.

Applicants should hold sixteen years of education with a degree in Information and Communication Technology or a related discipline from an HEC-recognized university, backed by at least five years of professional experience, including a minimum of two years working specifically as a Data Engineer. Demonstrated proficiency in SQL and Python is essential, together with real experience building production-grade ETL or ELT pipelines rather than one-off scripts. Experience with big-data or cloud data platforms such as Spark, Kafka, or AWS, Azure or GCP data services is preferred and will help candidates stand out, since KPITB's data volumes are expected to grow substantially as more departments come onto shared platforms. Comfort working with version-control systems such as Git and writing clear technical notes on pipeline design will help the wider team maintain what the Data Engineer builds after the initial engagement period ends.

This is a single-post consultancy for an initial six months, extendable subject to satisfactory performance and available budget, with payment made as a monthly lump sum under standard government consultancy terms and no application fee charged.
