NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi, one of the oldest and best known engineering universities in Pakistan, has announced a teaching vacancy for an Assistant Professor in Urban & Infrastructure Engineering. The post is offered on a contractual basis through the Registrar's advertisement reference DR(Estab)/(22)/6305, dated 6 October 2026, which also invites applications for a Lecturer in the same discipline. The university is clearly looking to build its strength in railway and mass-transit engineering, which makes this an interesting opening for researchers who have specialised in transport infrastructure. The advertisement is open only to Pakistani nationals who hold a Sindh domicile, so candidates from other provinces are not eligible for this round of hiring.

To be considered, applicants must hold both a Ph.D. and a Master's degree in the relevant field from a university or institution recognised by the Higher Education Commission. The Master's degree must carry a CGPA of at least 3.00, and there must be no third division anywhere in the candidate's academic record. The university says it will give preference to candidates whose doctorate specialises in railway engineering, transportation engineering with a railway focus, or mass transportation, and to those with a record of research publications in these areas. Degrees from foreign universities are accepted only with an HEC equivalency certificate. The maximum age is 35 years, although serving government, semi-government and university employees can get relaxation if they apply through proper channel, and a 5% minority quota will be observed. No separate experience requirement or salary figure is printed, as the appointment is on contract terms set by the university.

Candidates first complete the online application form linked from the NED University jobs page, because the advertisement clearly says that any application without the online form will be rejected. A printed copy of the completed form then has to reach the Registrar's office at University Road, Karachi, on or before 20 October 2026 during office hours, together with proof of the online payment of Rs.3,000. The file should contain a biodata or CV, attested photocopies of all educational certificates from matriculation onwards, experience testimonials, CNIC, domicile and character certificates, and two references. Anyone applying for more than one post must send a separate application with its own set of documents for each post. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered, any direct or indirect approach or influence will lead to disqualification, and only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview. Qualification Required

• Qualification: Candidates must hold Ph.D. and Master's degree in the relevant field from an HEC recognized University / Institution. Additionally, the candidate must have a minimum CGPA of 3.00 in the Master's degree, with no 3rd division throughout the entire academic career. Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. specialization in Railway Engineering, Transportation Engineering with a focus on Railways, Mass Transportation, or demonstrated research publications in relevant fields.
