The National Telecommunication and Information Security Board (NTISB) is recruiting for two contract-basis Incident Responder positions, graded PPS-9, based in Islamabad, as advertised on the National Jobs Portal. Incident Responders form the front line of NTISB's cyber defence effort, investigating security incidents, analysing forensic evidence, and helping contain and remediate threats across federal information systems. With two vacancies open, this posting offers a meaningful entry point for mid-career cyber security professionals into a high-responsibility, technically demanding federal role that operates around the clock.
To qualify, applicants must hold at least 16 years of education with a major in Cyber Security, Network Security, Information Security, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecom Engineering, or Information Assurance; the advertisement lists more than 50 acceptable degree titles spanning BS, MS, PhD, and BE programmes in computing, cybersecurity, and telecommunications, giving applicants considerable flexibility in how their qualification is framed. A PMP certification or other relevant professional certifications are considered advantageous, though not mandatory. On the experience side, candidates need a minimum of 8 years of overall experience, with at least 4 years in a directly relevant field covering forensic software use, coding proficiency in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, Assembly, PERL, and PHP, system monitoring tools, backup and archiving practices, cloud computing, UNIX systems, network communication, web application security, and Windows/Linux operating systems, all within a 24x7 IT operational environment. The eligible age range is 30 to 45 years, with the customary five-year general relaxation already applied to the upper limit and no further relaxation available. Applicants should also be prepared for shift-based work, since the role explicitly requires functioning within a round-the-clock datacenter, NOC, or SOC operational setting.
Eligible candidates must submit their applications online through the National Jobs Portal, logging in with a PAK-ID verified account or registering for one, completing the application form, and attaching their CV along with educational and experience certificates. No application fee has been specified. The last date to apply is 12 October 2026, so candidates with the required technical depth and willingness to work rotating shifts in a federal cyber-security environment should complete their applications well ahead of this deadline. With two seats available, applicants who can clearly demonstrate hands-on forensic investigation and incident-containment experience against a live network, rather than purely theoretical knowledge, will stand out during shortlisting for this operationally demanding federal role. Given the breadth of technical tools and programming languages listed in the advertisement, candidates are encouraged to specifically mention which of these they have practical, working proficiency in when preparing their CV for submission.
