The Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED), Karachi has invited applications for the grant-funded contractual position of Research Specialist. AKU-IED was established in 1993 to become a leader in educational reform and improvement, particularly in developing countries, by increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of schools and other educational institutions through innovation, policy development, training and research. The Research Specialist will support the finalisation of review questions, search strategies, eligibility criteria and review tools, orient the research team to agreed procedures, monitor the quality of screening and data extraction, support literature searches and quality appraisal, analyse and synthesise evidence including meta-analysis, prepare draft research papers, and participate in project and funder meetings.
Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Education or Social Sciences from an HEC-recognized or reputable foreign university, with at least two years of relevant work experience, including experience with multiple genres of literature review such as narrative, scoping and systematic reviews. Candidates should also have strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Urdu, proficiency in developing and applying data collection tools, competence in data management and processing, proficiency in MS Office, SPSS and Excel, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
