About This Job

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has opened the 29th batch of its flagship State Bank Officers Training Scheme (SBOTS), inviting energetic young professionals for the entry-level position of Assistant Director (OG-2). Trainees selected under this batch will be placed across a wide range of SBP's core functions - including Monetary Policy, Macroeconomic Research and Data, Financial Markets and Foreign Exchange Reserve Management, Banking Policy and Supervision, Islamic Finance, Financial Inclusion, Digital Financial Services, Information Technology, Finance and Risk Management, Internal Audit, External Communications, Strategic Planning, and Human Resources - with all positions based in Karachi. Running alongside the narrower, economics-focused EATS 7th batch drive opened the same week, SBOTS is SBP's broad-based officer pipeline for building future leadership across the central bank's operational and policy departments.

Eligible candidates must hold a Master's, Bachelor's, or equivalent degree representing sixteen years of education, with at least 60 percent marks (or 2.5 out of 4.0 or 3.5 out of 5.0 GPA where applicable) from an HEC-recognized Pakistani or foreign institution, in one of a broad set of disciplines - Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Commerce, Finance, Statistics, Data Sciences, Actuarial Sciences, Accounting, Computer Sciences, Information Systems and Technology, Mathematics, Human Resource Management, Agriculture Management (excluding a BSc/MSc in Agriculture), Islamic Banking and Finance, Law, Media and Culture Studies, Philosophy, or Physics; foreign-degree holders additionally need an HEC equivalence certificate. No minimum age is prescribed, but the maximum is capped at 26 years as of the advertisement's own publication date of 30 August 2026, with a three-year relaxation for female candidates, transgender persons, candidates from minorities, and applicants from Balochistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and areas previously part of FATA; the drive is open nationwide with no prior work experience required, and SBP explicitly welcomes applications from women, minorities, transgender persons, and persons with disabilities as an equal-opportunity employer.

Interested applicants must submit their applications online via SBP's Career Development portal at career.sbp.org.pk, following the procedure described on the bank's careers status page; email and in-person submissions will not be accepted, and incomplete applications lacking required details such as a photograph or date of birth will be disqualified. There is no fee for the pre-induction written test, and candidates who clear it move on to group discussion, psychometric testing, and a panel interview; those ultimately selected undergo residential Applied Focused Theoretical Training at the National Institute of Banking and Finance (NIBAF) in Islamabad, receiving a monthly stipend of Rs. 41,000 during training before being appointed as Assistant Director (OG-2) at a monetized monthly salary of Rs. 82,000 plus allowances and benefits as per SBP's rules. The last date for submitting applications is 14 September 2026, so eligible graduates across SBP's many partner disciplines should complete their online application well ahead of the deadline.
