The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has advertised one contract-basis post of Director General (Medical Services) at BPS-20, based in Lahore, under Advertisement No. PRD(L)/WAPDA/071(2026-27). The selected officer will oversee, manage, and lead all medical, clinical, and administrative operations of WAPDA's hospitals and dispensaries spread across the country, making this the apex healthcare leadership role within the organization. WAPDA is looking for a dynamic, self-motivated candidate capable of setting long-term health policy and ensuring high-quality care across its nationwide hospital network. As the top medical executive within the organization, the Director General (Medical Services) is expected to unify clinical standards and administrative practice across every WAPDA-run hospital and dispensary, rather than overseeing a single facility.

Applicants must hold an M.B.B.S or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, along with twenty years of service in a public, private, or military hospital or institution, including at least five years of medical administration experience; candidates with three or more years of experience as MS or DMS in such an institution will be given preference. Beyond formal qualifications, WAPDA is seeking a candidate with strong command over hospital operations, clinical governance, and quality standards, sound budgeting and procurement skills, familiarity with the rules of the Pakistan Medical Commission, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan, and the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority, and the ability to plan for and respond to health emergencies and outbreaks. The maximum age limit for this post is 62 years, and the appointment will initially run for three years on a lumpsum basis with a six-month probation period, extendable based on performance but carrying no consideration for regularization at any stage. The position carries a lumpsum monthly package of Rs. 525,000, inclusive of all perks, privileges, and facilities.
