The Institute of Education and Research (IER), University of the Punjab, Quaid-i-Azam Campus, Lahore, has announced one vacancy for Lecturer in English Language Teaching & Linguistics, graded BS-18, in a recruitment notice issued on 14 September 2026. This post supports IER's ELTL programme, which trains specialist teacher-educators in English-language pedagogy and applied linguistics for Pakistan's education sector, and is advertised alongside the Institute's other Professor, Associate Professor and Lecturer vacancies.

Candidates are required to hold a BS or Master's degree (16 years of education) in English Language Teaching & Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, or Linguistics, together with a first-class MS, MPhil, or an equivalent 18-year degree in a relevant field from an HEC-recognized university or institution, with no third division anywhere in the academic record. All appointments will follow HEC's minimum eligibility framework for the Lecturer grade, only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview with no TA/DA payable, and foreign degrees will be accepted only after equivalence certification by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.

Applications must be submitted online at jobs.pu.edu.pk, in addition to two signed hard copies sent by registered post to the Office of the Director, IER, University of the Punjab, Quaid-i-Azam Campus, Lahore, together with an updated CV and attested educational documents — by-hand submissions will not be accepted under any circumstance. A processing fee of Rs. 500 is payable by every candidate, and Assistant Professor/Lecturer applicants must also deposit Rs. 3,000 through the prescribed challan or a pay order in favour of the Director, IER, with government servants required to attach a Departmental Permission Certificate/NOC. Newly appointed staff will be covered under the Punjab Defined Contribution Pension Scheme Rules 2025. Both the online form and the hard-copy documents must reach IER before the closing date of 30 November 2026, when the online portal will close at 4:00 pm and no further applications will be entertained. Results not officially announced by the concerned Board or University before the closing date will not be considered, and applicants must ensure no column of the online application form is left blank, since incomplete applications will not be entertained in any case. The Institute reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of advertised posts, or to withhold or withdraw any appointment, without assigning any reason, and all instructions issued by the Higher Education Commission or the University from time to time will be followed in letter and spirit during selection.

Fresh recruitments at IER are governed by the Punjab Defined Contribution Pension Scheme Rules 2025; employees already serving on BPS who apply through proper channel remain under the old BPS pension rules.
