The Institute of Education and Research (IER) at the University of the Punjab, Quaid-i-Azam Campus, Lahore, has advertised five posts of Professor of Education in BS-21, inviting applications from dynamic and qualified Pakistani nationals. IER is one of the oldest and most established teacher-education institutes in the country, and the Professor grade represents its senior-most academic rank, responsible for leading teaching, research and postgraduate supervision within the department. The advertisement was issued on 14 September 2026 and forms part of a wider recruitment drive covering multiple faculty ranks at the Institute.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Education from an HEC-recognized university or institution. On the experience side, the university will accept either fifteen years of teaching or research experience gained at an HEC-recognized university, postgraduate institution, or in a relevant professional capacity at a national or international organization, or alternatively ten years of post-Ph.D. teaching or research experience in an equivalent setting. Applicants must also demonstrate a strong publication record, with at least fifteen research papers in HEC-recognized journals, of which a minimum of five must have appeared within the last five years; only papers published in journals enlisted by the Higher Education Commission (HJRS-enlisted from July 2020 onward, or of at least Y category) will be counted, and any paper published after the closing date will not be accepted. All appointments will be evaluated strictly against HEC's minimum eligibility criteria for the relevant academic rank, and foreign qualifications will only be accepted once their equivalence has been certified by the Higher Education Commission.

Interested applicants must apply online at jobs.pu.edu.pk and additionally submit two signed hard copies of the application, along with a CV, attested educational documents, and the first page of each publication, to the Office of the Director, IER, University of the Punjab, Quaid-i-Azam Campus, Lahore, by registered post. Candidates applying for Professor must also carry a soft copy of their application and publications on a USB drive, in a PDF file not exceeding 20 MB. A processing fee of Rs. 500 applies to every application, and Professor/Associate Professor candidates must separately deposit Rs. 6,000 via pay order or bank challan in favour of the Director, IER. Government servants must produce a Departmental Permission Certificate/NOC, and candidates who are selected elsewhere during the process must promptly furnish an NOC from the new employer or risk having their application rejected. New appointees will be engaged under the Punjab Defined Contribution Pension Scheme Rules 2025, while serving BPS employees applying through the proper channel remain under the old pension rules. Applications must reach IER on or before the closing date of 30 November 2026; the online portal itself closes at 4:00 pm on that date, and incomplete or by-hand applications will not be entertained under any circumstances. Candidates should also note that results not yet officially announced by a Board or University's Controller of Examinations on or before the closing date will not be considered, and the correctness of all data supplied in the application rests solely with the candidate.

Qualification Required

• Qualification: Ph.D. in Education from an HEC-recognized university/institution.
• Experience: 15 years teaching/research experience in an HEC-recognized university or post-graduate institution, or equivalent professional experience nationally/internationally; OR 10 years post-Ph.D. teaching/research experience in an equivalent setting. Minimum 15 research publications in HEC-recognized journals, with at least 5 in the last 5 years.
